DIVETICULOSIS IS small, bulges or pouches or pockets are called diverticula that form on the inner wall of the intestine.

DIVERTICULITIS is a condition it occurs when these bulges or pouches or pockets become infected or inflamed.

Most commonly it occurs in Colon, the lower part pf large intestine. Diverticulosis, Diverticulitis and colovesical fistulae conjointly called Diverticular Disease of Colon.

The disease is common in Western population. Low fibres diet are the chief factor of this disease. Common in male, over 40yr of old. In indians and africans this disease is rare because of intake high fibre of diet.

CAUSES

• Low fiber diet
• Eat high fat and red meat diet
• Overweight
• Intake nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
• Smoke
• Drink
• Do not exercise

SYMPTOMS

• Left sided lower abdominal pain
• Pain moderate to severe is associated with passing of loose stool
• Pain ameliorated after passing flatus
• Bleeding par rectum
• Fever
• Weakness
• In clinical examination mass be may be present in left illiac fossa
• Constipation
• Nausea and vomiting
