The cartilage and bones that devides the inside of the nose in half is called Nasal Septum( DNS).
When the nasal septum displaced to one side this condition is called Deviated Nasal Septum(DNS) .

- C Shaped

CAUSES
- Congenital. In congenital cases it is associated with _cleft palate_
- Injury or Trauma. Injury from a blow over nose during difficult vaginal delivery, RTA, spots, fighting etc.

- High arched palate

SYMPTOMS
- Difficulty breathing especially through the nose
- Unilateral headache
- Epistaxis
- Mouth breathing during sleep
- Recurrent Sinusitis
- Sleep apnea
- Inferior turbinate hypertrophy
OTHER SYMPTOMS
- Facial pain
- Sleeplessness
- Decrease sense of smell
- Septal perforation

INVESTIGATION
- Physical examination- change in the external shape of nose
- X-ray of nose
- Nasal endoscope
Treatment
- Consult with ENT( ear, nose & throat) specialist or otolaryngologist
- Septoplasty
- Rhinoplasty
