Fluid accumulate in _bartholin glands_ and form lump it’s called bartholin’s cyst.
_Bartholin glands_ are situated on each side of vaginal opening. Bartholin glands look like a Pea. They make fluid that keeps your vagina moist. The fluid comes out to vagina through ducts or tubes, if they get blocked fluid cannot comes out, and forms a lump called cyst.

Physical examination is essential to determine what type of cyst pr mass you have.
A mass or bulge or lump seen of the vaginal wall during pelvic examination. FNAC or biopsy must needed to find out benign etiogy
CAUSES
- Injury, irritation

- Chlamydia, gonorrhea or other STIs
- Bacterial infection such asE. Coli
SYMPTOMS
- When bartholin’s cyst are small feel a soft, pain less lump.
- If the cyst grows very large, It can become noticeable and uncomfortable

- Also feeling pain surrounding area of vagina when walk, sit down, when inserting a tampon
OTHER SYMPTOMS
- If the cyst become infected(Abscess) it can cause pain, and collection puss
- Swelling and tenderness

INVESTIGATION
- Pelvic Examination
- Biopsy ( take a sample of the tissue from the cyst)
- If discharge present then test the fluid for SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTIONS ( STIs)
TREATMENT
- Medication for pain relief
- Antibiotics
- Surgical drainage
- Removal of bartholin’s gland
- Marsupialization
- Sitz baths
