What is ascites?
It refer to abdominal swelling caused by accumulation of free fluid in Peritonium. Often this is caused by liver disease
SIGN AND SYMPTOMS OF ASCITES

CAUSE OF ASCITES
Most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis of liver. Ascites also caused by heart, kidney failure, cancer or an infection. Ascites occurre when vain of liver is pressure up and the pressure blocks blood flow in the liver.
RISK FACTORS OF ASCITES
The common risk factors for ascites include:
1.Alcohol abuse
2.viral infection
3.cancer of abdominal area
1.The doctor will do physical examination and ask about symptoms.
2.USG(ultrasonography)
3.CT scan report
4.Paracentesis (is a procedure using a needle to aspirate fluid from belly for testing to detect cause of ascites)
5.MRI scan

PRIMARY –
a.rest, less intake of salt(less than 2000mg) a day.
- Avoid alcohol
2.SERIOUSLY- paracetamol, nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory drug such aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen
3.Surgery

1.maintain body weight
2.regular exercise
3.limiting your intake of fat and protein
