Overall
An anorectal abscess is a collection of puss in the cavity or area of anus and rectum.
Anus has a muscle that is called sphincter that opens during a bowel movement to allow passes stool. There are many glands within the anus if one of this gland get obstructed or blocked and get infected abscess may form.
More common in men especially in diabetic person. It is BLOOD-BORNE INFECTION is common in diabetic person.

SYMPTOMS
- Severe throbbing pain in perianal area
- Pain aggravate when patients sits downs
- High grade fever with chill and rigors
- Pus discharge
- Discharge bleeding
- A tender indurated swelling is found in the perianal region
- Constipation
- Common in diabetic men
- Pain in lower belly
- Night sweats

- Digital Rectal Examination
- Proctosigmoidoscopy
- MRI
- CT scan
- USG
- CBC examination report
- Colonoscopy
Treatment
- Treatment depend on how severe the condition is
- If you see any symptom of anorectal abscess immediately consult with doctor
- Antibiotics for prevent the infection
- Local Anesthesia
- Draining the abscess
- After surgery you may need warm sitz bath
