Overall
It is the inflammation of appendix. Appendix is a narrow small pouch(4 inch)projected from
intestine. It is situated at the junction of large intestine and small intestine. Basically it has no function but it produce antibody.
CAUSE
Basically it is caused by infection
1.blocked by stool
2.blocked by foreign body
3.abdominal trauma
4.cancer
5.disease like IBD
6.parasitic infection
SIGN & SYMPTOMS
1.Sudden onset of pain in
right iliac region
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Abdominal swelling
- Fever
- Flatulence
- Constipation
TYPES
Two types of appendicitis
1.Acute appendicitis- in which pain starts sudden within few hours
2.Chronic appendicitis- it the chronic inflammation of appendix, not a medical emergency

- Physical examination
- CT pf abdomen
- X-ray of abdomen
- MRI of abdomen
- 5.USG of abdomen
- Rectal examination
- Blood and urine tests
Treatment
TREATMENT
- Immediate consult with treating doctor
- Surgical management
- Laparoscopic Appendectomy
- Open appendectomy ( Mostly in case of _appendicular perforation_)
